Pat - A Man for All Seasons
Patrick Gordon Stanton was born on the 13th September 1944 and was brought up in the Niddrie area of Edinburgh hence his nickname ( Niddrie ). Pat quickly became noticed as a footballer playing for his boys club Salveson before Walter Galbraith signed him for the Hibs who loaned him out to Bonnyrigg Rose for one season, Pat was then called back to play for his beloved Hibees scoring on his debut away to Motherwell aged 18, he went on to play over 500 games for Hibs before moving to Celtic. Pat gained gained 16 caps for Scotland before moving into Football Management with among others the Great Sir Alex Ferguson.
We are celebrating 'Niddrie's' 75 years at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh on Saturday 7 September and will be joined by many many former Hibs Players whom he played with and managed also special guest appearances that have touched Pat's long illustrious career such as Steve Archibald and Gordon Strachan. Pat will be reunited with his long time friend Sir Alex Ferguson, Pat was Sir Alex assistant manager at Aberdeen when Aberdeen went on to win the League at Easter Road of all places!.
A great night of nostalgia and surprise appearances are in store on a one off evening not to be missed if you are Scottish football fan.
