British Romantic Organ Music
A programme of music ideally suited to the rich tones of the Usher Hall’s 1914 Norman and Beard organ including works by Herbert Howells, Frank Bridge, Vaughan Williams and Edward Bairstow. Also included is Geoffrey Atkinson’s Little liturgical suite, cleverly based on Scottish folk melodies.
Monday 15 January at 1.10pm
A programme of lighter music, including Michael Thomson’s brilliant Salute to Busby Berkeley, first heard in the Usher Hall last June, as well as music by Sullivan, Easthope Martin and Ethelbert Nevin.
Monday 22 January at 1.10pm
Another programme of audience requests
This will include music by Bach (Toccata and Fugue in D minor), Wagner (Tannhäuser Overture) and Alfred Hollins (Concert Toccata in B flat). But it’s not too late for your request to be considered!
Get here early: there tends to be a queue of those booking on the day!
