Popular lunchtime concerts with John Kitchen

Join City Organist John Kitchen for his popular lunchtime concerts on the world renowned Usher Hall organ with its magnificent sound. Whether performing organ classics, adapting classical and other music or playing audience requests, John's inimitable performances and conversation will delight.

Monday 11 September at 1.10pm
Pomp and Circumstance
A programme of grand ceremonial music,  including Walton’s Coronation March ‘Orb and Sceptre’,  William Harris’s Processional March, Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March no. 4  and music by Holst and others.

Monday 18 September at 1.10pm
Bach’s youthful organ music  was much influenced  that of his predecessors and contemporaries.  This concert will explore some of that repertoire,  by composers such as Buxtehude, Leyding, Pachelbel,  Bruhns and Böhm.

Monday 25 September at 1.10pm
Another programme of audience requests
This will include music by Bach,  Karg-Elert and César Franck;  but further suggestions are requested!

Monday 6 November at 1.10pm
Part of 'To Absent Friends' Festival
A unique opportunity to reflect on absent friends with a range of music themed around remembrance.

Monday 4 December at 1.10pm
Get Organised returns with the hugely popular annual choir and organ Christmas special,  when the Edinburgh University Singers and John Kitchen at the organ present varied seasonal music for Advent and   Christmas.
