Alana and Lisa Macfarlane have always loved food, but only knew what kale was because they used to give it to their guinea pig. That all changed when they became “chief guinea pigs” for the British Gut Project. Since then they have discovered how important the gut is to our health and the impact it has on our physical and mental wellbeing, from controlling our weight to lifting our spirits. Through their blog The Gut Stuff, the twins are on a mission to educate us all about the gut, how it works, what to eat and how to look after it. They will be joined by Edinburgh Fermentarium, makers of tasty fermented foods, and Symprove, which works to restore the beneficial bacteria in the gut.
