Please see the following update from Gavin Reid, Chief Executive of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra:
As we all know, the situation created by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is unprecedented in recent times. Events have moved incredibly quickly and the advice we have received - and carefully followed - from the Scottish Government has been updated and modified equally quickly.
In line with the most recent advice and, as ever, in order to safeguard the wellbeing of our audience, supporters, players and staff, it is my sad duty to have to inform you that all of our remaining performances of the 2019/20 Concert Season in Edinburgh are now cancelled.
The affected SCO performances at the Usher Hall are:
BEETHOVEN SYMPHONIES NOS 8 & 9 'CHORAL'
Thursday 14 May | Usher Hall, Edinburgh
As someone who has bought a ticket for this cancelled concert, you are of course entitled to a refund on the cost of your tickets. Since your ticket was purchased through the Usher Hall Box Office, your refund will be processed by them. Please bear with the Box Office as they work through the very many refunds that they will have to process.
As you can no doubt appreciate, these are very challenging times which are certain to put enormous financial pressures on charities such as ourselves. Therefore, if you felt able to help us by donating even some of the value of your refunded tickets back to the SCO, that would be hugely appreciated and of significant benefit to us. You can do this by clicking the button below which will redirect you to our website where you can make a secure, online donation - DONATE HERE
As ever, it has been our pleasure to have performed for our audiences in Edinburgh this Season and we are all deeply grateful to you for having bought tickets for one or more of our concerts. Of course we are saddened at having to cancel these performances, but we are all very much looking forward to entertaining you again next Season and sharing the joy of our music with you.
In the meantime, everyone at the SCO sends you their very best wishes in these troubling times.
Chief Executive, Scottish Chamber Orchestra
If you booked by phone or online:
Your transaction will be refunded automatically. We aim to process these refunds within 10 working days.
If you booked by:
Box Office Counter card payment with chip/pin machine or contactless
Exchange (your ticket was exchanged from another concert)
It is not possible to automatically refund these payments (normally, customers would contact us with card details to progress this refund). Given the closure and security procedures around such transactions, this is not a process that we can transfer to the team working from home.
As soon as the restrictions on non-key workers are lifted, we can restart this activity and will make the refunds a priority.
Should you need to contact us please email email@example.com and we will try to answer you as quickly as possible.
We apologise that we are unable to provide a full service at this time and thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we try to navigate this difficult time.
