Wagner: Prelude to Act I of 'Lohengrin'
Strauss: Four last songs (soloist: Natasha Day)
Bruckner: Symphony no. 7 in E major
Bruckner's magnificent Symphony no. 7 was the first to bring him worldwide success after its triumphant premiere in Leipzig. Given his lifelong devotion to Wagner (to whom he dedicated his Symphony no. 3), Bruckner would have been honoured to share the programme with the serene Lohengrin prelude. Scots/Polish soprano Natasha Day makes a welcome return to join us in Strauss' autumnal Four last songs.
