Scottish Sinfonia - Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Dohnanyi

7:45pm, Sunday 25 November 2018 St Cuthbert's Parish Church

Please note as a result of some damage caused by the severe weather yesterday,19 September, the box office now has a temporary entrance in place.

Concerts in the Hall are unaffected by this issue but some alternative entry points will be in place while the necessary checks and works are carried out.

Level access to the building will not be affected.

Tchaikovsky: Symphony No 6 in B minor "Pathétique"
Dvořák: Four Slavonic Dances, opus 46
Dohnányi: Variations on a Nursery Song
soloist: James Willshire

The 'Pathetique'—Tchaikovsky's last symphony—was premiered a mere eleven days before his death: "I consider it the best and most open-hearted of my works; I love it as I have never loved any of my other musical creations." This, the most powerfully emotional of his works, is balanced by Dohnányi's charming and witty Variations for piano and orchestra, and Dvořák's Slavonic Dances are sure to send you home light of heart and (hopefully) of step!
