Join the Maestro, Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam, for a magical evening of music along with the renowned Lakshman Sruthi Orchestra. Coming to Edinburgh for the first time, it is an opportunity of a life time to savour the incredible and delightful vocal range of the Living Legend.
Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam is an Indian playback Singer, Music Director, Actor, and Film Producer who works predominantly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi cinema. Dr S P Balasubrahmanyam made his debut in film music as a singer in Dec 15, 1966. Fondly called as SPB, has recorded over 40,000 songs in 16 indian languages. He is the Guinness World Record holder for recording the most number of film scores. He virtually monopolised playback singing for more than 30 years in the Telugu, Kannada and Tamil cinema industries. He has gained six National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer, and received the prestigious indian awards, Padmashri in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2011 from Government of India.
Lakshman Sruthi Orchestra is a manual orchestra founded by V. Lakshmanan in 1987 and they've performed over 7800 times in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi. This orchestra maintains completely manual orchestration. It does not use synthesizers or any other electronic equipment. It was the first orchestra to set a world record to carry out a 36-hour non-stop light music performance in Dec 1994 to an audience of 24,000 people.
