SCO celebrate their 50th anniversary with Maxim's 'Eroica'
Mon 14 Aug
We are delighted to welcome our friends, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, to the Usher Hall stage for the opening concert of their 50th anniversary year.
Maxim Emelyanychev sets out for an unforgettable evening of joy and passion as he leads the Orchestra through some of the biggest-hearted, most compelling music around.
The powerful Russian-US pianist Kirill Gerstein is sure to make a strong impression as soloist in Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto – understandably one of the world’s best-loved works with its heart-on-sleeve emotion and soaring romantic melodies.
Beethoven’s majestic ‘Eroica’ Symphony brings the festivities to a rousing, soul-lifting conclusion, while SCO Associate Composer Jay Capperauld – one of Scotland’s most exciting and original voices – unveils a kaleidoscopic new piece written specially for the Orchestra’s anniversary year.
Join us on Thursday 28 September at 7.30pm.
Under 18s go free (under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult). Under 26 and student tickets are priced £6 (proof of concession needed).
