Lunchtime organ recitals with John Kitchen MBE
Escape at lunchtime to be transported by the delights of John's accomplished playing here at the Usher Hall.
Monday 6 June at 1.10pm: Music without pedals
Today’s unusually titled programme features music written for the hands only. British organs, unlike those on the continent of Europe, were slow to acquire pedal boards, and so all British organ music written before the 19th century is for manuals only. The programme will incorporate tuneful music by Stanley, Boyce, Wesley, Elisabeth Turner and others.
Monday 13 June at 1.10pm: Lunchtime at the Opera!
A programme of operatic highlights including Verdi’s Grand March from Aïda, Lemare’s Carmen Fantasy based on the best tunes from Bizet’s opera, Humperdinck’s Prelude to Hansel and Gretel and Walther’s Prize Song from Wagner’s Die Meistersingers.
Monday 20 June at 1.10pm: Audience requests
Another in the popular series of concerts featuring audience requests, which will include music by Purcell, Delius and Derek Bourgeois.
