Holmès La Nuit et l'Amour, Interlude from Ludus pro Patria
Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto
Berlioz Symphonie fantastique
Regrettably, Nicola Benedetti has withdrawn from this week’s concert due to an injury. The Orchestra wishes Nicola a speedy recovery and is looking forward to performing with her at the BBC Proms in September, and in the Gala Concert in May 2023, alongside Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Benjamin Grosvenor.
The RSNO is delighted to announce that the wonderful violinist Noa Wildschut will be joining us for this week’s concert. Wildschut will be performing Mendelssohn’s beautiful Violin Concerto, which regularly features in Classic FM’s top 100 Hall of Fame, in place of the Mark Simpson Violin Concerto.
The RSNO is extremely grateful to Wildschut for stepping in at the last minute. She made her RSNO debut performing alongside Principal Guest Conductor Elim Chan during the 2019:20 Season. Her performance of Bruch’s Violin Concerto brought “refreshing insight, electrifying precision and melting expressive tone” (The Scotsman) to concert halls in Scotland.
The rest of the programme remains unchanged and will include Holmès’ La nuit et l'amour, Interlude from Ludus Pro Patria, and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique, conducted by Fabien Gabel.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Usher Hall on Friday.
