The NYOS Orchestra will take to the stage at Usher Hall on 11 April 2025 inviting audiences to an exploration of some of classical music’s most exciting responses to great literary works. Recently described as having “intoxicating rhythm and pyrotechnic virtuosity”, the orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, a piece that will be familiar to many from its use on screen, and Elgar’s deeply personal masterpiece Falstaff. The orchestra will also be joined by award-winning mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnston to perform Sieben Lieder, Alma Mahler’s gorgeous settings of seven evocative poems.
