On 6th June 2024, Scotland will unite to pay tribute to the men and women, both serving and civilian, whose bravery ultimately led to the success of the Allied D-Day landings and the beginning of the road to victory in Europe.

Exactly 80 years ago, Allied forces launched one of the most daring operations of World War 2, and the largest amphibious landing in military history.

Legion Scotland and Poppyscotland are proud to present Scotland’s National D-Day 80th Anniversary Concert, Scotland’s Salute.

We offer a unique evening of music-led storytelling taken from eyewitness accounts, leading with preparations for the D-Day landings to Operation Overlord. Scotland’s Salute will culminate in an act of Remembrance.

We are delighted to have JJ Chalmers, Scottish television presenter and Invictus Games medallist, acting as our evenings compere. While Alasdair Hutton OBE TD, previous voice of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, leads you through a unique evening of music-led storytelling taken from eyewitness accounts.

You will be immersed in an array of classical and modern classic orchestra music, with a sprinkling of 1940’s Big Band.

Our orchestra will feature the world-famous Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland with special displays from their fantastic Corps of Drums. Alongside them, Scotland’s only state band, the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, will perform, too.

Members of the Highland Band the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Lowland Band the Royal Regiment of Scotland, will also take to the stage. Not to mention Dunfermline RBLS Pipe Band, 2SCOTS Pipes and Drums and members of the Military Wives Choirs.

Join us as we come together as a nation to remember the successful Allied Landings and Scotland’s role within it.

This charity event will help to support The Royal British Legion Scotland and Poppyscotland in their continued support of the Armed Forces community in Scotland. More about the works these charities carry out and be found at the following links:
